Показываю коллеге, архитектору две свои фоточки из #tttnho с переведённым на английский текст, а он мне пишет:

I: IOL whut?

P: Working on SQL optimizers kills you.
In my time, I've known about 5 guys who were optimizer architects / specialists.
3 of 'em are dead.
Working on SQL optimizers kills you.
That — or the kinds of people who are drawn to that work are fragile to begin with.
Or more likely it's all just a coincidence.
It has a hint of menace / stupidity to it. It's something not quite in your control.

I: Something like mind sick...

P: Kinda.
