All of us know about RAR and Zip's: Zip, Gzip, Bzip2. Some formats like 7z and XZ aren't so widespread. Theory of statistical compression can be used as a guide. But it's much more interesting to do an experiment. So I took Tar, Gzip, Bzip2, XZ, 7z, 7z+LZMA2 and RAR to prove well-known facts about archivers.
