Talking to GameStar at E3 2011, EA's European Senior Vice President, Patrick Söderlund confirmed that there could be something in the pipeline as far as the Mirror's Edge franchise is concerned, amid reports earlier this year that the project had stalled.
"I loved Mirror’s Edge and what we did with Mirror’s Edge," said Söderlund. "We have not abandoned the franchise and we're working on something, but I’m not willing to talk more about that."
At this year's E3, EA Games President Frank Gibeau also apparently hinted that the next Mirror's Edge title will utilise DICE's proprietary Frostbite 2.0 Engine, currently powering the rather lovely-looking Battlefield 3.
Despite failing to perform all that well at retail, the demand for a Mirror's Edge sequel seems unusually high, and goodness knows that the game demonstrated masses of potential. We'll be keeping an ear to the ground for something more substantial on Mirror's Edge 2, hopefully in the near future. We have 'Faith' it'll happen... Tee-hee.
